Abstract

Blood clots most often occur in people who cannot move around well or who have had recent surgery. When a clot is formed in the artery/vein of an individual, it can lead to a number of severe and deadly conditions such as heart attack or stroke. In this paper, we compared the rate of clot dissolution models for laminar flow and turbulent flow in an artery/vein using various Reynolds numbers. It was concluded that, as Reynolds number increases, the rate of clot dissolution is higher during turbulent flow than during laminar flow.
